Mancora

hi guys, some technical difficulty on blogger has been encountered...
anyway we had a great time in Huanchaco. Riding the Caballitos or little horseas the totora reed boats are called, was a blast.. the surfing here was pretty goodalthough the water was a bit chilly.. we loved our hostel that was right across from the beachand found a really delightful vegetarian place to eat at. we meet an east coaster just off a 2 yrstint with the peace corps, Dan.. i watched him get a few waves the last arvo we were in town and madeplans to hook up in Mancora and catch a few together.. we arrived in Mancora in the wee hours of the morningand tried to get some sleep.. we were staying at a place that was literally right on the beach.. at about 9am we were awoken from our slumber by loud blaring music right outside our window... see Mancora is a "resort" towncomplete with umbrellas and chairs on the beach and our room was right outside the thick of the action unbeknownst to us.
We wandered down the main drag and found another delightful vege place.. that we then proceeded to eat at for every meal of the next few days.. we spent the morning wandering around the main street trying to find a better place to stay and then hit the beach.. Mancora is labelled the north shore of Peru.. well maybe when there is a swell but there was literally 30 people fighting over 1 piddly wave.. insanely crowded, every wave a party wave with people dropping in left and right on each other.. not very appealing to say the least and no real beach break to speak of..
We hooked up with Dan and he and I ended up renting boards late in the arvo and getting a paddle in when it was less crowded and again super early in the morning before it got crowded again but the tide was out and some narly rocks were showing thru.. needless to say we were not feeling it.. we ended up getting a "taxi" to another beach.. as we rounded the corner HEather and i immediately recognised it from a surf movie she had netflix "peru: the peel project".. i was over the moon.. Dan and i had the point to ourselves and managed to at last get some waves without the crowds.. that night in town we chilled on our balcony and had a few beers with Dan as he was heading out the next day.. there was a full moon rave going on acrosss the street that we never made it out too but heard loud techno bumping till about 7am.. the next day we met another couple at Angela´s cafe and planned to meet up with them at "the spot".. so had another great day surfing with Pete and also managed to ggive HEather a bit of a surf lesson.. after a few days in the sun we were both ready to leave the beach behind.
