Sipan Ruins...

We took a day bus this time to Chiclayo.. the city was founded by the Spanish so has the usual Plaza de Armas and a beautiful Cathedral.. I will let Heather retell the food and coffee situation in this city since the first was at my expense.. but in their defense they sold more ice-cream, amazing deserts and other sugar laden treats than we have seen anywhere..
We visited Sipan or Huaca Rayada as it´s also known.. Sipan is a series of pyramids that contain some amazing tombs.. we had a young university student for a guide who was really knowledgeable and had a keen interest in the site and archeology.. we were the only 2 on the "tour" so had a good time chatting with him not just about the site but life in the north of peru etc..the main thing to see at the site is replicas of the tombs that were discovered there.. only as recently as 1987.. some had been looted already but they did find some that were totally intact and untouched.. an amazing find!
